  • Turkish Document Translation

Turkish document translation encompasses printed material translation, including user manuals, financial information, medical inserts, and more. This translation workflow usually includes Turkish desktop publishing, which involves making sure that translated materials are formatted according to source document specifications.

Every industry required different types of documentation, each with its own unique set of translation challenges. For instance, software translation usually requires translation of print documentation, user manuals, packaging and marketing collateral. In contrast, the medical industry requires inserts in multiple languages as well as labels which must be translated and formatted with meticulous accuracy and compliance with international regulations.

Turkish document translation begins with a thorough review of source documentation for word count, formatting requirements and subject matter. The source document is then prepped and imported into a translation memory, which the translation team will use for terminology management to ensure consistent translation across all documents. Leveraging previously translated text by utilizing the translation memory on 100% matches and repeat text leads to considerable cost savings. If corrective formatting is required after translation, the Turkish text is imported into a desktop publishing application match source document formatting.

Your selected translation agency will require various files and information before initiating your Turkish translation project. You will need to provide your translation agency with all source desktop publishing files (for example, .qxd, .tif, .doc, and .fm), fonts and graphics. You should also delineate any graphics or text which is not to be translated. An example would be Logos containing text.

Regardless of your documents' complexity, your translation company should have a comprehensive process which includes at a minimum:

1.      Source file review, analysis and preparation

2.      Project kick-off meeting

3.      Format, edit and proofread all text

4.      Format, edit and proofread all graphics

5.      Client review and approval

6.      Final QA

Turkish Certified Translation

A Turkish certified translation is nothing more than a written document that has been translated into Turkish for official purposes. The certification constitutes a legal record attesting to the accuracy of the Turkish translation. Government agencies and legal or medical entities frequently require certified.

Whenever it is critical that translation did not in any way affect the original meaning of the source document, translation certification is required. The following list indicates the type of documents that often require Turkish certified translation: birth and death certificates, academic records, customs and immigration documents, adoption papers, marriage and divorce certificates, wills, financial records, legal contracts, real estate deeds, medical records, leases, contracts, police records, and more.

When searching for a translation company that provides certified Turkish translations, determine what level of certification services they provide. It is important to understand the different methods of certification, since any translation company or translator can claim to certify a translation:

  • For some translated materials, including divorce proceedings, you must have the translation certified by affidavit; the translator must declare in writing and on oath before a notary public that the translation is accurate and complete.
  • Some translation companies simply add a statement to the Turkish translation, which affirms the translated text is accurate and complete.
  • Others provide translation by a sworn translator, who has been authorized by their government to translate and notarize documents themselves.

Turkish Medical Translation

Highly-skilled and experienced translators with a thorough understanding of specific medical fields are required to execute Turkish medical translations, which must provide an accurate rendering of the source content into Turkish. Such translations must be adapted for the target Turkish reader, whether he or she is a doctor, patient, employee, student, or consumer.

A wide range of medical fields require Turkish medical translations, including:

  • Medical Equipment
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Public Health
  • Anesthesiology
  • Dentistry
  • Biomedicine
  • Diagnostics
  • Environmental Health

Turkish medical translators face unique demands posed by each field of medicine. Medical translators must have a grasp of appropriate terminology and a thorough understanding of the basic science behind the terms. Effective Turkish medical translators should be highly-credentialed with certifications, accreditations, or appropriate advanced degrees relevant to the field for which they are translating. They should also have the latest English-to-Turkish dictionaries and possess solid experience in their chosen medical subject area(s).

Medical translators are increasingly responsible for accurate documentation in Turkish and other languages, in order to achieve international regulatory compliance for selling and distributing medical products. Turkish medical translators must adhere to strict quality control processes as well as legal requirements governing labeling, product sheets, and health and medical advice.

Look for a translation company that recruits highly-qualified, proven medical translators who are also equipped to supply notarization and consent of translations as needed. Your Turkish medical translation partner should have appropriate non-disclosure policies and practices in place.

Turkish Technical Translation

Turkish technical translation aims to communicate specific, often complex, information with complete clarity and lack of errors and/or omissions in Turkish. The following list covers just some of the critical skills that translators must possess in order to successfully execute accurate Turkish technical translations:

  • Complete understanding of the source technical material
Turkish technical translators must have a background relevant to the field in which they are working, which can be demonstrated by proof of appropriate education, certification, and work experience in a particular field. Turkish technical translators often have to conduct independent research in order to understand the material fully for especially timely and complex technical translation topics.
  • Proofreading and editing skills
While proofreading source content is not always part of the formal translation process, technical translators should be able to detect problems with source material; their subject-specific knowledge serves as a quality control step before and during the Turkish technical translation process.
  • Terminology management skills
Consistent and accurate use of terminology may be ensured by usage of translation memory tools. The Turkish translator must first determine which terms will be used before they are stored in translation memory. Obviously, this can be a challenge when there are multiple, acceptable technical translations for a term, or if a word has recently been introduced in an industry.
  • Turkish-specific technical knowledge
Turkish technical translators are responsible for adapting technical material for Brazil. This can include altering number, currency, and date formats, adapting information for local regulations, adhering to industry standards in Turkish-speaking areas, and ensuring the style is appropriate for a Brazilian audience.

Turkish technical translators carry the responsibility of communicating complex information with absolute precision, ensuring an accurate and concise rendering of the source content into Turkish. Turkish technical translations are required by a wide variety of technical fields, including:

  • Aviation
  • Information Technology
  • Science and Physics
  • Military
  • Engineering
  • Automotive Production
  • Telecommunications
  • Machinery
  • Legal

Whether Turkish technical translators are translating a scientific report, operation manual, patent application, or other technical information, they must translate the information using clear, understandable language. Each field makes unique demands on technical translators, who must use appropriate terminology and also understand the basic concepts behind the procedures, science, laws or regulations as required.

Competent Turkish technical translators should be credentialed with accreditations, certifications, or advanced degrees appropriate to the field for which they are translating. Turkish technical translators should have solid experience in the chosen technical subject area(s) and be equipped with the latest English-to-Turkish dictionaries, in addition to appropriate education.

Large technical translation projects contain many instances of similar or identical terms and phrases. Turkish technical translators should utilize translation memory (TM) tools to ensure consistent and accurate translation. Client-specific glossaries and terminology databases are also key features which need to be leveraged when working on technical translation projects.
